The best ranking at the end of the regular season was 39th in 1998. I'm thinking you know more about that team than I do but from looking at the rankings, probably somewhere in the top 8 at NE regionals which was a 3 bid region that year I think. To be fair to the youngbloods down in the 200s in rank, back in the day all it took was an 0-7 record to crack the top 100 (84th in '93). USAU has gone from under 100 teams ranked to over 400 so it's not quite comparable. I have no idea what region finish any of those teams had.

In 1999 RPI was moved to the newly created Metro East Region. The archives don't have regional results until 2004 so I still can't tell what happened in those years. Our best finish at ME D-I regionals was in 2009, with 11th place. In 2011, the Metro East shrunk (picking up Connecticut but losing Pennsylvania) and D-III was split off to it's own path. This drastically reduced the competitiveness of Regionals. D-III nationals has been probably the best measuring stick for the past 10 years. We came in 2nd at D-III regionals in it's first year and won it in 2012. Our best finish at D-III nationals was in 2007 with T-7th place.
